THE DEAD SHERIFF - Cannibals & Bloodsuckers

THE DEAD SHERIFF RIDES AGAIN

Airship 27 Productions is thrilled to present “Mark Justice’s The Dead Sheriff – Cannibals & Bloodsuckers.”

Before his death in Feb, 2016, radio personality turned pulp writer, Mark Justice wrote “The Dead Sheriff,” a weird western that merged his love of both horror fiction and cowboy movies. Last year Airship 27 Productions proudly produced a new edition of that one and only book. Later, it was learned that Mark had actually begun a second book featuring the creepy lawman and his Indian companion, Sam. After reading the partial manuscript, fellow pulp scribe Ron Fortier volunteered to complete the tale with Mark’s widow, Norma Kay Justice, giving her approval.

“It’s always intimidating to pick up a story from another writer,” Fortier confesses. “At first I’d thought I would find someone else to take the job and I’d merely edit. Instead, while reading through Mark’s original section, it became all to clear to me that we shared the same kind of quirky black humor. In the end, I knew it would be up to me to finish this over-the-top adventure. Now I leave it to Mark’s fans to say if I got it right.”

Starting only months after the conclusion of their first adventure, Sam and journalist, Richard O’Malley, along with the Dead Sheriff, find themselves battling twisted cannibal brothers, a traveling bordello of vampire prostitutes and a demon from hell. Can even the Dead Sheriff survive this Trio of Terror?  Returning to the series were artists Zachary Brunner (cover) and Art Cooper (interior illustrations) with Art Director Rob Davis on book design. This new book also features a special post-script by Mrs. Norma Kay Justice.

So get ready to saddle up for some truly wild and hair raising adventure, pulp fans, as the Dead Sheriff rides again!

BASS REEVES - Frontier Marshal Vol 3

AIRSHIP 27 PRODUCTIONS
Presents
BASS REEVES – FRONTIER MARSHAL Vol 3

Airship 27 Productions is thrilled to announce the release of the third volume in their western anthology series starring the greatest western lawman of all times; Bass Reeves.

In all the annals of frontier history, there was no lawman as skilled or tireless in meting out justice then former runaway slave, Bass Reeves. Having lived with the Five Civilized Tribes during the Civil War years, Reeves was taught tracking and hunting by the natives of this rugged land.  After marrying and starting a horse ranch, he soon realized raising a large family (he would have ten children) was expensive. Thus when offered to pin on the U.S. Deputy Marshal’s badge, Reeves accepted for two practical reasons; his own respect for the law and the fact that Marshal’s got to keep whatever bounty was posted on the outlaws they hunted.

“The first two books in this series are still hot sellers,” reports Airship 27 Productions’ Managing Editor, Ron Fortier. “Interest in Bass Reeves continues to grow and it is our plan to release a new volume every year.” Fortier also noted that there have been rumblings from Hollywood on several possible Bass Reeves projects. “It is only a matter of time before someone out there realizes how important such a film or series could be. But while they waffle, we’ll continue to put out Bass Reeves books.”  Airship 27 Productions’ award winning Art Director, Rob Davis, provided both the cover and interior illustrations.

In this volume, writers R.A. Jones, Terry Alexander and Mel Odom put the legendary Marshal to the test in three brand new adventures. From facing an old deadly foe, hunting a killer in Indian country and going after a preacher who believes himself to be God’s own avenging angel. This is the Wild West at the wildest, challenging the one man who could not be beaten, Marshal Bass Reeves.

SUN KOH - Heir to Atlantis

AIRSHIP 27 PRODUCTIONS
Presents
SUN KOH : Heir to Atlantis

Airship 27 Productions answers the question, “Who is Sun Koh?”

During the 1930s German pulp writer Paul Muller wrote a series of adventures featuring his hero, Sun Koh : Heir of Atlantis. From the very start he was intended to an Aryan version of America’s Doc Savage. Like Savage he was larger than life and accompanying him on his adventurers was a group of loyal, unique individuals. Whereas Doc Savage was a man of science and his companions all experts in various technical fields, Sun-Koh’s stories were slanted towards mythology and mysticism. He was supposedly a time-traveler from the sunken continent of Atlantis, a member of the royal family and master of arcane abilities. Although there were plenty of super scientific gizmos in his adventures, it was the magic that took center stage. His aides were magicians, immortals and religious Hindu assassins. Quite an eclectic mix.

In 2010, in the midst of the New Pulp explosion, Dr. Art Sippo wrote a brand new adventure novel featuring these characters. “Sun-Koh : Heir of Atlantis.” It premiered to rousing acclaim by pulp fans and a sequel was planned. Sadly that second book never materialized and eight years later, the first book is out of print. Now Airship 27 Productions is about to rectify all that. Ron Fortier, Airship 27 Productions’ Managing Editor, entered into an agreement with Dr. Sippo to reprint “Sun-Koh : Heir to Atlantis.”

“We couldn’t be happier,” Fortier reported after getting Dr. Sippo’s green light. “Whatever one’s thoughts on this German based character, he clearly has a place in the history of pulps and Art has written a whopping great book that demands to stay in print and we at Airship 27 are going to see it does.”

Now Dr. Art Sippo’s controversial New Pulp offering returns in this newly expanded Airship 27 edition with an introduction by Pulp Factory Award winner writer, Andrew Salmon and interior illustrations by Art Director Rob Davis and a stunning cover by Adam Shaw. The book also contains a Bonus Back-Up feature spotlighting Sun Koh’s amazing crew.

JEZEBEL JOHNSTON - Birth of a Buccaneer

AIRSHIP 27 PRODUCTIONS
Collects Jezebel Johnston Series
In
BIRTH OF A BUCCANEER

Several years ago, popular New Pulp writer Nancy Hansen created a pirate series based on the life and exploits of a Caribbean Island girl named Jezebel Johnston; the daughter of a bordello madam and a British freebooter.  At the age of 14, longing for a life of seafaring adventure, Jezebel disguises herself as a boy and signs on to a pirate ship.

All that is told in the first book, “Devil’s Handmaid.” Hansen continued the girl’s story in three subsequent sequels, “Queen of Anarchy,” “Sea Witch” and “Mourning Star.” Now Airship 27 Productions has collected all four in one omnibus volume, “Birth of a Buccaneer.”

“It was time for this collection,” says Airship 27 Production’s Managing Editor Ron Fortier. “All too often we’d be at a pulp convention and people would come to our table only to learn certain volumes were sold out, or new readers couldn’t find the first book. After some discussion with Nancy, all of us agreed the saga had in fact reached a critical point and was about to move on to an entire new phase in Jezebel’s life. Ergo this was the best point to do a collection.”

Colorado based artist Kevin A. Johnson signed on to do the cover and Art Director and book designer Rob Davis assembled all four volumes to include all his previous interior illustrations, for a grand total of 36. “After Legends of New Pulp Fiction, this is the biggest book we’ve ever released, at 638 pages,” Fortier adds. “We’re sure Nancy’s fans are going to be thrilled with it while we look forward to her fifth novel in this amazing on-going saga.”

AIRSHIP 27 ADDS PROF CHALLENGER

AIRSHIP 27 TO ADD PROF. CHALLENGER

It is no secret that Airship 27 Production’s best selling books for the past six years have been their volumes in the “Sherlock Holmes – Consulting Detective” series. Now twelve volumes rich, they continue to sell and are constantly on Amazon’s top mystery anthology list year after year. To their thousands of loyal readers, reason for this continued success is no secret. All Airship 27 Production’s “Consulting Detective” books are done strictly in the tradition of Holmes & Watson’s creator, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Now this leading New Pulp publisher is hoping this formula will work a second time as they prepare to launch a brand new anthology based once again on a Conan Doyle character; Prof. George Edward Challenger.

“After Holmes, Challenger is clearly Doyle’s most popular creation,” says Airship 27 Production’s Managing Editor Ron Fortier. “Which is why when our pal, and fellow writer, Gordon Dymowski approached us about doing a series featuring George Challenger, we were eager to hear what he had in mind.”  Dymowski, a popular Chicago writer and blogger, is also known as an enthusiastic Doctor Who fan and can be found at most Who related events in the Windy City.

“Gordon not only suggested the concept,” continued Fortier, “but actually went the extra step by writing up a Prof. Challenger bible.”  A bible is the name given to character data documents with which editors use to introduce perspective writers to a series. “Our hope is to elicit interest from established New Pulp writers in our community. Anyone interested in submitting should contact me and I’ll happily send them a copy of the bible.” Fortier ends with stating this is not a project for new amateur writers and Airship 27 will only look at those inquiries send in from known, published writers.

Will lightning strike twice?  Time will tell, while Fortier and Dymowski certainly have their fingers crossed.

PULP MYTHOLOGY Vol One

Airship 27 Productions
Presents
PULP MYTHOLOGY Vol One

Wesbster’s diction defines “Myth” as a traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or without a determinable basis of fact or natural explanation, especially one that is concerned with deities or demigods and explains some practice, rite, or phenomenon of nature.  A collection of myths is a mythology.

Now Airship 27 Productions brings you four such tales of wonder and imagination as distilled through the minds of today’s New Pulp writers. Stories handed down before the written word that still mesmerize and entertain us.

“This book was inevitable,” explains Airship 27 Productions Managing Editor, Ron Fortier. “After doing our series of Sinbad the Sailor anthologies, we always felt there was a market for pulp flavored stories inspired by classic mythological heroes. Once we put the word out, filling this first volume took no time at all.”  In these pages you will find such eternal heroes as Hercules, Achilles, the Monkey King and Beowulf in classic adventures courtesy of Jaime Evans, Joel Jenkins, Barbara Doran and Fred Adams Jr.

Clayton Hinkle provides the black and white interior illustrations and Zachary Brunner the cover featuring a battling Hercules. In PULP MYTHOLOGY, ancient thrills are made new again and legends live forever.

The Adventures of Captain Graves

AIRSHIP 27 PRODUCTIONS
Presents
THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN GRAVES

Airship 27 Productions is proud to present author Thomas McNulty’s newest full length novel, “The Adventures of Captain Graves.”

Of all the colorful men who sailed the exotic waters of the South Pacific, none was more legendary Captain Elliot Graves. Rogue, pirate, spy, explorer were all titles used in telling of his adventures aboard his ship, The Reaper’s Sythe. Then in 1944, Captain Graves disappeared without a trace, his ship supposedly sinking of the coast of Australia with all hands lost.

Eight years later, reporter Bill Harrison finds him living in Honolulu and manages to persuade Graves to recount the events of his last and greatest adventure. Now for the first time the legendary sea captain will reveal what actually happened on a remote South Sea island that changed his life forever.

“I first met Thomas McNulty at the Windy City Pulp show years ago,” reports Airship 27 Productions Managing Editor Ron Fortier. “At that time he was selling his comprehensive biography of Hollywood swashbuckler, Errol Flynn. We became friends and I later learned he is one of the premier western writers in the country today.”

Though successful at writing westerns, McNulty had always wanted to pen an old fashion pulper inspired by the man whose life he had chronicled, Errol Flynn. From that inspiration was born “The Adventures of Captain Graves.” He approached Fortier with the idea and soon the book was in full production.

Now Thomas McNulty spins a fast paced tale of two-fisted men, beautiful women and lush island paradises where both heaven and hell await. Canadian Ted Hammond provides the gorgeous cover and Ed Catto, a well known marketing personality, donned his own artist cap to do nine black and white interior pieces, all of which was assembled by award winning Art Direct Rob Davis.

“The Adventures of Captain Graves” is a classic pulp adventure delivered by a master storyteller.

THE PURPLE SCAR in The Black Fog

AIRSHIP 27 PRODUCTIONS
Presents
THE PURPLE SCAR
In
THE BLACK FOG

Airship 27 Productions is proud to present the very first full length Purple Scar novel written by New Pulp author, Gene Moyers.

A hooded man suddenly appears on the streets of Akelton carrying a strange device strapped to his back. Affixed to it is a nozzle from which enveloping black fog spews forth quickly swallowing everything in its path; to include men, women in children. And just like that the city is thrown into panic as the mysterious villain begins popping up all over the city wielding his eerie weapon.

Realizing he is facing a supernatural threat, Captain Dan Griffin enlists the aid of the city’s own gruesome crime fighter, the Purple Scar. Secretly plastic surgeon Doctor Miles Murdoch, the Scar, with the aid of his nurse Dale Jordan and ally Tommy Pedlar, is quickly on the hunt for the mastermind behind the fog of terror. For in the first time in his vigilante career, the Purple Scar is battling an evil scientific genius whose purposes can only herald doom and bloodshed. It is a battle he cannot afford to lose.

Having contributed short stories to the two previous volumes in this series, Moyers took the next step in writing a novel featuring the Haunted Horror.  “We see it often enough,” says Airship 27 Managing Editor, Ron Fortier. “Every now and then a New Pulp writer will develop a special affinity for a golden age character. Moyers seemed to have fixated on the uniqueness of the Scar’s persona. More than just a run-of-the-mill avenger type, the Purple Scar stories infused a generous portion of horror along with their suspense. It was this added element that fascinated Moyers and eventually inspired him to write The Black Fog. And we couldn’t be any happier.”

Joining Moyers on the project were two amazing artists. Former Pulp Factory Award winner Chris Kohler provided the 9 black and white interior illustrations while British painter Graham Hill the eerie colorful cover depicting the gruesome Scar.  Art Director Rob Davis brought it all together to produce one of Airship 27 Productions’ most spectacular titles. If you think you know the Purple Scar, think again.

JEZEBEL JOHNSTON – Mourning Star

Airship 27 Productions once again sets sails with author Nancy Hansen in the next thrilling chapter featuring Jezebel Johnston, Pirate Queen.

With Emile Gagnon’s Sea Witch laid up in the French port of Fort Royale for minor repairs, Jezebel Johnston and young Zachary Spencer go into town to trade with the local merchants. While there, they come to the attention of an unscrupulous smuggler named Luc Charbonneau who cleverly manipulates them into being blamed for thievery committed by his own gang. But before he can rally an impromptu lynch party, they are rescued by Captain Ancel Thibodeaux, the real authority on the small West Antilles island.

Thibodeaux is fascinated by the beautiful Jezebel and pressures her and Zachary into joining the crew of his own pirate ship, Mourning Star. Having no other recourse, the two agree and the wily French buccaneer sets about tutoring the lovely mulatto into being part of his elaborate scheme to sail across the Atlantic and raid the rich Barbary Coast.

“Who doesn’t like a rousing pirate yarn?” asks Airship 27 Productions Managing Editor, Ron Fortier. “The Jezebel Johnston series is both historically accurate and filled with enough action and adventure to fill a dozen such books.”

Airship 27 Productions is thrilled to announce the fourth title in Ron Fortier’s daring new pulp series featuring the Undead Avenger, Brother Bones.  “City of Lost Souls,” continues the saga of Cape Noire’s supernatural protector, the relentless skull masked vigilante who exist for only one purpose; the utter destruction of evil.

In the past three volumes, pulp fans were introduced to Tommy Bonello, a cruel sadistic hitman who found himself cursed with a conscience and then was murdered by his own twin brother, Jack. But hell didn’t await the slain gunman, rather his soul was chosen by the Cosmic Fates to return to the land of the living and there become the gruesome avatar of justice, Brother Bones. The vengeful spirit complied by taking over his brother’s body, effectively ending Jack’s life and thus becoming an animated zombie.

Starting with “Brother Bones The Undead Avenger,” the character burst on to the New Pulp scene over ten years. His remarkable debut was followed by a full length novel, “Brother Bones – Six Days of the Dragon,” by author Roman Leary, working under Fortier’s guidance. The following year saw the release of Fortier’s second collection, “Brother Bones – Tapestry of Blood.” Now comes the long awaited fourth book, another anthology featuring five gripping tales of murder, mayhem and the unstoppable Undead Avenger.

“I sometimes think Bones is in charge,” says Fortier, who is also Airship 27 Productions’ Managing Editor. “His stories propel me along as if I were merely a chronicler. Bones and the entire cast of Cape Noire have, over the years, taken on realistic characteristics in my imagination. In this new collection, we find old characters from previous stories resurfacing in new ways I’d never have conceived of ten years ago. Each is taking center stage with startling new stories that will definitely change the landscape of Cape Noire forever.”

The longest tale in the collection is “The Synthetic Man” and for the first time ever, Brother Bones combats a classic golden age pulp villain, Doctor Satan. “This was a real challenge,” Fortier adds. “I realized bringing Satan into Cape Noire would set a precedent allowing other classic pulp characters to enter this world. Where that will take us right now is anybody’s guess.”

Joining Fortier to provide ten black and white illustrations is Rob Davis, Art Director for Airship 27 Productions and super graphic artist Michael Stribling created the beautiful stunning cover. And this new book is soon to be followed by a brand new role-playing game module, “Ron Fortier’s Cape Noire” from Scaldcrow Games due out within a few weeks. The popularity of Brother Bones continues to grow and these new entries are sure to add to that momentum.

THE MOON MAN Vol 2

THE MOON MAN RETURNS

Airship 27 Productions is proud to announce the releases of their second volume in their series of all new Moon Man adventures.

In the middle of the Great Depression, many unscrupulous people found ways to enrich their own wealth while ignoring the plight of those less fortunate. It was an injustice the law could not remedy. Men like Detective Sgt. Stephen Thatcher found themselves at odd with the very laws they were sworn to uphold. But, unlike the others, Thatcher solved his moral dilemma by creating an alter-ego who would rob from the very rich and give to the poor. Wearing a bizarre argus glass globe over his head, the Moon Man became the Robin Hood of Great City and one of pulpdom’s most endearing classic heroes.

“The Moon Man was one of the most original pulp heroes of them all,” says Airship 27 Productions’ own Managing Editor, Ron Fortier. “His adventures were always fun and unique unlike any other character from the Golden Age of the Pulps.”

Now writers Gene Moyers, Greg Hatcher, Tim Bruckner and Terry Alexander have whipped up four new stories pitting the Moon Man against a variety of foes and challenges. From a group of street kids emulating him to deadly Nazi saboteurs, the globe wearing champion of the underdogs, finds himself battling as never before to see that justice will triumph in the end.

This new volume features a stunning cover by British artist Mike Files with twelve interior illustrations by Richard Jun and designed by award winning Art Director Rob Davis.
