SECOND HAZZARD AUDIO BOOK!

Second Hazzard Audio Book Announced!

He was a hero that rose out of the adversity of the late 1930s.

He's back! and Captain Hazzard is roaring out of the past for his second audio adventure.  Airship 27 Productions, in conjunction with Dynamic Ram Audio, is thrilled to announce they are about to produce  Captain Hazzard - Citadel of Fear, co-written by novelists Ron Fortier & Martin Powell with voice actor Joe Stofko reading.

Captain Hazzard was originally a single-issue pulp magazine published in 1938 by Magazine Publishers. Hazzard was a rich adventurer in the Big Apple who battled for justice with a team of super-scientists.

The Captain had suffered blindness for fifteen years, and his afflection had enhanced his other senses — including his intellect. After surgery restored his eyesight, and equipped with almost two decades of immersing himself in studying hypnotism and mysticism, the Captain was ready for a fight--with crime! He headquarted his team at Hazzard Laboratories, a complex of scientific labs and aircraft hangers.

So the riproaring adventures began.

Last year Dynamic Ram Audio released Captain Hazzard's first audio adventure, Python Men of the Lost City, to the applause of pulp and adventure fans everywhere. Joe Stofko voiced that book as well. At the time of its publication, it was the first new Captain Hazzard novel in over 65 years.

Joe Stofko is a busy stage, and audio drama actor. After military service, he worked for 13 years in radio broadcasting as a newscaster and disc jockey. He was employed in a number of technology positions after leaving broadcasting, and continued working behind the microphone with occasional voice-over work for several cable television franchises in the northeast.

Captain Hazzard and the Python Men of the Lost City was Joe’s first audio book. It is still available from Audible.com, Airship 27, and the Dynamic Ram Audio website.

“We were so happy with how well that audio version came out, it was only natural that we would want to follow it up with the second book in the series,” explains Fortier.  “And again, we can’t envision anyone reading this other than Joe.  He totally becomes the Champion of Justice!”

Co-author Ron Fortier's other novels include: Trail of the Seahawks with Ardath Mayhar, Monkey Station with Ardath Mayhar, The Hounds of Hell with Gordon Linzner, three additional Captain Hazzard novels, Brother Bones, and Witchfire. His comics work includes Popeye, Daughters of Dracula, Adventures of Mr. Jigsaw,, Green Hornet, and many others.

Co-author Martin Powell is the author of hundreds of science fiction, mystery, and horror stories. He has worked in the comic book industry since 1986, writing for Marvel, DC, Malibu, Caliber, Moonstone, and Disney, among others, and has been nominated for the coveted Eisner Award. Martin also writes children’s books, and frequently contributes prose for many short story anthologies.

Airship 27 Productions is one of the leading publishers of the New Pulp Movement, keeping alive the classic pulp literature of the 30s and 40s while producing newer pulp themed titles by today’s brightest writers and artists. Airship 27 Productions is thrilled to present the second volume of brand new stories starring the greatest seaman of them all, Sinbad the Sailor and his international crew of daring adventures.  Here are the Henri Delacrois, the deadly archer from Gaul, Ralf Gunarson, the strapping young Viking giant, Tishimi Osara the beautiful female samurai and of course Omar, the irascible first mate.  All of them bound together by their love of action and yearning to explore uncharted lands.

“We released the first volume of this series last year,” says Airship 27 Managing Editor, Ron Fortier.  “Reader response was overwhelming and we soon were getting lots of mail to do more.  It’s very clear there are lots of people out there who lovingly remember those old Harryhausen Sinbad movies.”

This volume contains a new novella by Ed Erdelac with short stories by Shelby Vick and Erwin K. Roberts. Capturing the feel of the old cinematic hero developed by the late Ray Harryhausen, the volume features illustrations by Steven Wilcox and a cover by Kevin Johnson with designs by Rob Davis.  Over the horizon awaits treasure, beautiful exotic maidens and monsters beyond imagining.  Dare you sign aboard with Sinbad El Ari? If so, then battened hatches and have your curved blade ready, heart pounding adventure awaits within these pages.

A FAN'S COMMENTS

We here at Airship 27 Productions love receiving letters from our readers.  Here is one from fan Sarah Shepherdson regarding our latest release; ROBIN HOOD - Freedom's Outlaw by I.A. Watson and her enjoyment of our other classic heroes.

"Quick note to say how much I'm enjoying Airship 27's output these days. Big fan of lots of classic characters, especially Sherlock Holmes, Robin Hood, Sinbad. Excited to see there are writers and editors out there who "get" what makes them great.

Very happy with my latest books for you, esp. the Robin Hood one. I loved the payoff on that, worth the wait. Tell I.A. Watson he's really understood what makes those characters tick. A definite winner.

Also tell Rob the artist that he knocked this one out of the park ;-) I really like his period work, like on this one and Sherlock Holmes. He really catches moods.

Keep up the good work. I always check your Flight Log to see whats coming up and I buy what I can afford. Jazzed about the Houdini you mentioned on your blog."

Sarah

Thank you so much, Sarah, and I'm sure you will be happy to learn our next release, coming in just a few more weeks is SINBAD - The Voyages Vol II.  Stay tuned.
